Gianni Giuliano

Gianni Giuliano was born in November 1972; he is a Canadian contemporary figurative painter of Italian descent. At a very young age his eye was quickly drawn to Italian Master painters, particularly Michelangelo Merisi, better known as Caravaggio.

In 1998 Gianni completed a Bachelor studies in Fine Arts from Concordia University in Painting & Drawing. It is there where he developed a critical approach to figurative painting. In 2014 he completed a Master degree in Art from Université du Québec à Montréal in Painting, where his pictorial approach shifted as he explored the concept of image-making. This notion can be observed in his most recent paintings/drawings whereby images from different sources and environments are put together to create tensions, while giving importance to the technical know-how that is related to figurative painting.

He is a two-time recipient of the prestigious Elizabeth Greenshields prize and his works can be found in numerous public, private and corporate collections.
