 ArtNow Westmount presents:

Marc Taro Holmes

Montreal artist Marc Taro Holmes has worked as an art director and conceptual designer in video games and film since 1995. His drawings have inspired teams of artists on projects as diverse as Electronic Arts’ Dragon Age and Walt Disney’s A Christmas Carol.

In recent years Marc has returned to the fine arts, with a focus on plein air painting and sketching on location. His love of spontaneous drawing in traditional media, and living a life combining art with experiencing the world, has led him to serve as a board member, artist/correspondent, and workshop instructor for the non-profit (an international organization dedicated to promoting the art of location drawing).

He is the author of The Urban Sketcher: Techniques for Seeing and Drawing on Location available from North Light Books, and he blogs at, where you can find a freely available stream of sketches, stories about the artist’s life, drawing tips and painting demos.
